Steven (Chappy) Shantz Former commissioner Chap’s reputation often precedes him, this rugged veteran often referred to as “the devil” is as well know for his off ice talent as his on ice talent. His ability to have an in depth heart to heart conversation with a virtual stranger is what sets him apart from the hordes of Chappy clones. He is a one of a kind specimen that brings something special to every team he is a part of, oh he might look like a cuddly teddy bear on the surface but get up against Shantz in the corner and he quickly turns into a stocky little grizzly bear! Chap will chew you up spit you out and then just when you think you have had enough he will stick you in the back, this talent makes no apologies for his aggressive kill or be killed style, if you want to beat Chap’s team you are simply going to have to beat Chap first. Although his demanding hunting and fishing schedule limits his appearance in the early part of the season he more than makes up for it come playoff time, Chap has so many levels not even The Hitman can determine when and if he will take it to the next one. When asked what he enjoys most about being a part of the expansion sharks he would not pin point one thing saying only “being in the room with such a good bunch of guys it is impossible to pick one highlight, but I will say that Jon Kochis has the most beautiful hair in the league” So weather it’s rubbing you into the boards, taking your last dice, yelling at you through the register to “have one more” or just sitting at the picnic table enjoying a gin and lemonade with his grandpa Steven (Chappy) Shantz is a class act all the way, just don’t whatever you do under any circumstance no matter what, never ever “close the fucking hotel on Thursday nights!!!!!!!!” Dick Irvin special to ZRHL.com Out |
